Job Title: BIRTH DOULA
Overview
As a Birth Doula with Babylove Doula Services, you will provide unwavering emotional, physical, and informational support to families during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the early postpartum period. You will work collaboratively with clients, healthcare professionals, and the Babylove team to ensure each birth experience is empowering and personalized to the family’s needs.
This is a subcontractor role, offering you the autonomy to manage your own schedule and responsibilities while benefiting from the support of our team and reputation. We value work-life balance and encourage you to organize your commitments in a way that aligns with your personal and professional priorities.

As a Birth Doula with Babylove Doula Services, you will provide unwavering emotional, physical, and informational support to families during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the early postpartum period. You will work collaboratively with clients, healthcare professionals, and the Babylove team to ensure each birth experience is empowering and personalized to the family’s needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Participate in virtual consultations ("Connection Calls") and some email correspondence
- Provide client-centered, holistic care to families through pregnancy, labor, and delivery.
- Provide primary birth doula support, and act as a backup doula when needed to ensure continuous, high-quality support for clients
- Facilitate prenatal sessions to build trust and relationship, discuss birth preferences and comfort measures, and demonstrate useful techniques
- Maintain availability for on-call support during the client's birth window
- Maintain open communication with clients and the Babylove team, ensuring clarity and trust throughout the process
- Offer continuous support during labor and delivery, including emotional, physical, and informational support to the client and their birthing partner
- Provide assistance with comfort measures such as breathing techniques, relaxation, movement, and positioning
- Communicate and advocate for clients' needs and preferences, in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner, with clients and healthcare providers
- Offer immediate postpartum support to facilitate a smooth transition for the client and newborn
- Complete and submit accurate client documentation and timesheets in a timely manner
- Successful completion of training and/or certification in birth doula services
- CPR and First Aid certification (not mandatory at the time of application)
- Cleared Vulnerable Sector Check (not mandatory at the time of application)
- Reliable transportation and flexible availability for on-call periods
- Willingness to take on both primary and backup doula roles
- Passionate about family support, reproductive justice, and inclusive care
- Strong communication and advocacy skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with families, healthcare providers, and the Babylove team

- Maintain availability and offer daytime and/or overnight as per the client’s requested support schedule
- Provide client-centered, holistic care to families during the postpartum period
- Offer compassionate, non-judgmental support while respecting family choices
- Assist with newborn care, breast-/chest- feeding support, and family adjustment during the postpartum phase
- Assist with light household tasks as needed, including meal preparation, light cleaning, and organization
- Encourage parental confidence and community support
- Maintain open communication with clients and the Babylove team, ensuring clarity and trust throughout the process
- Complete and submit accurate client documentation and timesheets in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Successful completion of training and/or certification in postpartum doula services.
- CPR and First Aid certification (not mandatory at the time of application).
- Cleared Vulnerable Sector Check (not mandatory at the time of application).
- Ability to offer both daytime or overnight home visits (overnight availability prioritized)
- Passionate about family support, reproductive justice, and inclusive care.
